Born and raised in the Tampa Bay area, Basil graduated from the University of South Florida with a Bachelor’s in English. He has been involved in sports writing since launching his personal sports blog Tampa Sports Knucklehead. The blog caught the eye of a local magazine called “What’s Hot Tampa Bay” and Basil now writes sports content for the magazine as well as video blogs for their website whtbmagazine.com. He also covers high school sports as a correspondent for the St. Petersburg Times. His family owns and operates a local family restaurant in Largo, Florida called The Fireplace Restaurant.
